Top 5 Secrets on Why You Self Sabotage your pursuit to your dream body.

And no…..

It’s NOT because 

-you’re too lazy.
-have bad genes.
-lack the time 
-or because you lack motivation


It’s because you don’t understand the archetypes that live within you.

And….it’s not your fault that you don’t know these archetypes exist.

However, if you truly desire to change, it is your responsibility to embody a new way of being.
It may not always be the easiest choice but it will help you get closer to your goals.

Understanding these archetypes will help bridge the gap between where you are at now and where you want to be.

  1. Inner Child You. I like to think of this one as Veruca off Willy Wonka. This is the I WANT IT NOW part that lives within us all. This is the impatient, instant gratification and neediness part of us. This is the part of us that wants to yell and scream when we don’t get our way. Most likely because we learned that we get more attention that way. This is the part of us that wants to skip over all of the lessons we need to actually earn in order to be self-empowered. This is where we think we just earned the entire chocolate factory just by being us. When this part of us takes over we end up like Veruca in a musical screaming “I want it now” and we go down the shoot with the rest of the bad eggs. So maybe you will have someone come down the shoot to save you but you’re still not going to end up with the chocolate factory or your goals.
  2. Emotional You. This is the primitive part of you. One of my favorite books “The Chimp Paradox” by Dr. Steve Peters goes over this in detail. This is the part of you that is coded within you for survival. This is part of you that cues you to overeat when you’re full or when you feel you need to be liked by a group of people you’re not even fond of. For example, you may think a restrictive diet is the best way to get to your goals faster. So you avoid ice cream, cookies, chips, and pasta. Emotional you sounds the alarm and reminds yourself that you NEED more to survive. It remembers the dopamine hit after gorging yourself with cookies and rational you says just one... until one becomes ten. When you understand that emotions come and go and are based more on story than on truth, you will gain an immense amount of power. 
  3. Logical You. This is the part of you that knows a 30-minute workout is better than no workout at all. This is the part of you that knows you shouldn’t text the guy back or yell at your kids when they ask the same question 10 times. This is the part of you that knows if you want to be more in love with your body you have to work out. Logical you knows what to do. However, often it is intertwined and disagrees with emotional you. It is your responsibility to write a new story and honor both parts of you when you’re met with indecision.
  4. Higher Self You/90-Year-old you. This is the part of you that holds wisdom. This is the part of you that sees your life in hindsight perfectly. This is the part of you that has complete peace, ease, and joy. This is the part of you that accepts all that comes to you and honors the lessons and celebrations. This part of you always has the answer when you get away from the noise. This is the part of you that actually loves your alone time. This is the part that always has the answers. 
  5. Sasha Fierce You/AKA Beyonce You. This is the level-up part of you. This is the time when the show must go on and you just don’t really feel like it and you show up anyways. This is when your inner child, emotional you, logical you, and higher self have all taken a break. These are the moments when you’re in the thick of it and you have to level up in an instant. The thing is, you are powerful, strong, resilient, and capable. More than you give yourself credit for. There is beauty within that because you may not have known that you, Beyonce, and I have a lot in common. Our desire to feel seen, heard, validated, accepted, and loved. Sometimes… life just isn’t going our way. Sometimes we don’t feel like doing the workout, checking in with our coach, or walking away from a man who no longer respects us. This is the part of you that levels up and invests. This is when you tap into a more courageous, bold, bad-ass version of yourself. This is your alter ego. This is the person who handles any situation that comes their way. This is the part of you that says, “I’ve got this.” Like I’ve seen grown women lift cars off babies, you just have to harness that baby-saving Sasha fierce version of you.
